POSITION: VP of Growth at Verblio 

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer  

SUMMARY:
We’re Verblio: a unique content marketplace platform based in Denver, CO, and we’re looking for our next visionary Marketing leader. Since our start in 2010, we’ve combined a unique pool of freelancer talent with our leading technology and an award-winning culture to innovate critical content solutions for marketers.

You might be thinking, “Hmm, I remember hearing about something disruptive happening in the content marketing space recently. Now, what was that...” It has indeed been a wild ride over here, and also fascinating as the content universe has been spun around and flipped every which way over the last two years. 

Our mission is to continue to innovate the next generation of content solutions that brands need in this new world order, and we’re well along this path. Infusing AI into our freelance writer-driven platform has enabled us to create new solutions that couldn’t be accomplished in the old world, like rapidly producing dozens of deep-in-the-weeds SME content for a leading project management tool, or building thousands of local landing pages for an electric lawncare brand.

But we also need to market and sell these innovative solutions, and that’s where you come in.

We’re hiring a VP of Growth to lead our joint marketing and sales teams. You’ll report to our CEO and be responsible for developing and executing a strategy to grow our revenue and help strategically position us for content-world domination. 

This is a particularly exciting time to join the team as we recently took on an amazing equity partner that is doubling-down on our investment to innovate in the space, including rolling up other companies in the space to help us achieve our goals more quickly.

We’re still a scrappy team of energetic, eclectic startup junkies, writing enthusiasts, and random liberal arts degree collectors—but after twelve years of fully bootstrapped success, we’ve just got more fuel now that will allow us to think bigger and go faster.

Who we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a marketing leader with at least ten years of experience, an established network in the industry, and a deep understanding of and passion for content and SEO—ie. you should be something of a content and/or SEO nerd, and have held at least one role in these disciplines during your marketing journey. You’ll be responsible for developing and managing Verblio’s own SEO, content strategy, and inbound sales, in addition to helping guide our product toward where the content industry is headed, and what new products and services we should build for when it gets there. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Own our revenue metrics and the strategy behind them
  • Lead our joint sales and marketing teams and maintain our deeply rooted team culture of experimentation and creativity
  • Create and implement lead generation and customer acquisition strategies, including outbound sales outreach and inbound marketing efforts
  • Conduct market research and analyze data to identify target audiences, market trends, and competitive landscape, and use these insights to inform strategic decisions
  • Design and execute go-to-market plans for new products and offers
  • Manage the company's brand identity, messaging, and positioning across all marketing channels
  • Develop and manage a content strategy for SEO, sales collateral, and thought leadership
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key partners and industry thought leaders to enhance brand visibility and credibility
  • Set, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for marketing and sales efforts, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance

Requirements:

  • 10 years of marketing experience, with a strong foundation in content marketing, SEO, and inbound marketing
  • You have held at least one senior role in content marketing or SEO along the way
  • You’re intimately familiar with terms like content refresh, skyscraper content, content clusters, and content decay—and you have opinions about them. You know the difference between DA and DR.
  • Established network in the content marketing industry
  • Solid understanding of market research, project management, collateral development, and cross-functional team leadership
  • Great interpersonal and networking skills, with a desire to build relationships with clients and partners
  • A data-driven mentality and experience with sales tracking and management systems
  • Strong writing and messaging skills, with the ability to create compelling sales decks, talking points, and responses to objections
  • A deep love of startups and the drive to create solutions that no one thought was possible

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $165,000 to $225,000
  • Benefits include: Health, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, 401k
  • Unlimited paid time off
  • Remote first work environment with option to work in co-working space
