Our A-Star Inc. ADA restroom trailers allow you to offer event organizers and their clients a stylish alternative. Our outdoor restroom trailers include standard and optional features that impaired clients need and appreciate.

Disabilities Affect More People Than You Know

ADA-accessible restroom trailers combine features that make them convenient for people with visible and invisible disabilities. Disabling conditions sometimes affect individuals in ways many people don’t notice. The Americans With Disabilities Act recognizes that neither a seen nor unseen disability should prevent a person from going wherever they choose. The Act provides legal protection for people with impairments that fit within three broad categories:

  • They have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits at least one major life activity.
  • They have a record of the impairment such as surgery or medical treatment.
  • Others see visible signs of impairment, such as scars, wounds, mobility devices, canes, etc.

These ADA impairment categories incorporate people with visible and non-visible disabilities. The list of disabilities includes people with cancer, diabetes, post-traumatic stress disorder, HIV, autism, cerebral palsy, deafness/hearing loss, blindness/low vision, epilepsy, mobility disabilities, intellectual disabilities, major depressive disorder, traumatic brain injuries, and others.

Every person with these impairments won’t necessarily require a modified restroom. If they do, A-Star Inc. ADA Restroom Trailers provide a compliant option.

Older People Often Benefit From ADA-Compliant Restrooms

Older people want to enjoy the same festivals and events as everyone else, but mobility issues often get in the way. The ADA disabilities list doesn’t include older adults as a category, yet some often require accessible accommodations. They don’t always seek disability credentials from their physicians. Many don’t use wheelchairs, scooters, or other devices. Still, many seniors deal with mobility challenges every day.

Aging often limits their ability to use traditional outdoor restrooms, which may require that they step up to enter. Accessible restrooms provide the space and accessibility features they need. ADA trailers make it easier for physically challenged older adults to enjoy outdoor events and celebrations.

What Types of Businesses Need ADA Compliant Trailers?

For most businesses and agricultural operations, outdoor restrooms aren’t simply a convenience. They’re a legal requirement under Federal Safety and Health Regulations. Companies that run outdoor operations understand that they can’t maintain employee productivity without outdoor restrooms. Civil Rights laws require employers to make reasonable accommodations for disabled employees, but they can’t necessarily raise issues about their disabilities.

ADA trailers allow employers to comply with both ADA and Safety and Health standards.

Construction Sites

Construction employees typically don’t leave their job sites during the day. Often they work in remote locations and don’t have access to other employer-provided restrooms. A compliant A-Star Inc. portable facility eliminates the issue of ADA and worksite restroom compliance. Health and Environmental Controls, 29 CFR 1926.51(c), Sanitation regulations, set construction site restroom requirements based on the number of employees on the job:

  • 20 employees or less: 1 toilet
  • 20 employees or more: 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal
  • 200 employees or more: 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers

Agricultural Employers

Regulations that cover agricultural employees who perform “hand-labor” mandate similar health considerations. General Environmental Controls, 29 CFR 1928.110, Field Sanitation regulations require that farm operations provide restrooms and handwashing facilities for field workers who work for three hours or more each day:

  • Employers must provide one toilet facility and one handwashing facility for every 20 employees or each fraction of 20 employees.
  • Toilets must be ventilated, screened, and have self-closing, latching doors.
  • Toilets and handwashing facilities must be close to each other and within one-fourth mile of their working location.

Public Events

When businesses, government entities, schools, and other public venues host an outdoor event, they must comply with accessibility requirements. The Publication, ADA Standards For Accessible Design, contains specifications mandated by ADA regulations. In addition to federal regulations, California entities must also comply with Title 24 accessibility guidelines:

  • Government Entities must comply with Title II regulations at 28 CFR 35.151 Government
  • Public Accommodations such as hotels, restaurants, and concert venues must comply with Title III regulations, 28 CFR part 36, subpart D Public Accommodations

To ensure venues have the restrooms they need to accommodate their expected crowd, they often specify their accessibility solutions during the early planning stages. Public events often include:

  • Concerts
  • Home and Garden Shows
  • Arts and Craft Shows
  • Career Fair
  • Community Festivals
  • College Fairs
  • Graduations
  • Sporting Events

Event Planners

Event planners handle all of the details for the events they plan. They create gatherings for large and small crowds for a variety of special events and celebrations:

  • Outdoor Weddings
  • Commitment Ceremonies
  • Family Reunions
  • Graduation Parties
  • Corporate Events and Outings
